Wildcats stay perfect in Mississippi 8 Conference

Chisago Lakes 3, Becker 1
The Wildcats toppled Becker on Thursday, September 23 in a road Mississippi 8 Conference tilt.

It was a close match throughout, the Becker taking the first set before Chisago Lakes ran off the next three 25-19, 25-17 and 25-21.

It was a recovery after dropping the opener for the Wildcats.

“We’ve been confident in our serve-receive and offensive abilities and have been ready to adjust our defense against new opponents,” Head Coach Hannah Lindstrom said. “We’re working hard, playing cohesively and the girls have been very flexible and coachable.”

Chisago Lakes 3, St. Francis 1
In their home match on September 28 against St. Francis, the ‘Cats had a peculiar start to the match, but stabilized enough to win pretty easily.

Chisago Lakes won the first set in the most dominating way possible, ending the set at 25-7, which is a very rare lopsided score in rally scoring.

That wasn’t the weird part, though. That came when Chisago Lakes followed up with a 25-18 loss in the second set to a team they were clearly a bit better than.

But, the Wildcats were able to right the ship in the third set, winning 25-17 and then finished off the win with another lopsided victory, 25-15, in the fourth set.

“The energy from our fans in the gym has been amazing,” Lindstrom said. “The girls have definitely been doing the work to earn this wins!”

Volleyball Stuff
The ‘Cats did suffer a three game losing streak over the weekend, losing twice in the Sibley East Tournament on Saturday, September 25 and then dropping a non-conference match against Anoka on Monday, but they remain at the top of the M8C with a 4-0 record. Their the only unbeaten team left. They do play three of the tougher teams in the conference over the next two weeks in Big Lake, Monticello and Cambridge-Isanti.
