AREA WRESTLING WRAP UP
Monticello 44, Chisago Lakes 25
The Wildcats opened the season with a 44-25 dual meet loss at Mahtomedi. At contested weights, the Wildcats had a 25-20 advantage, showing the team has quality but not depth at this point in the season. Andrew Novack (138) lost 9-4 in overtime to Nelson Anderson, currently ranked eighth in Class AA at 132. Wildcat head coach Shawn Frederixon said “Andrew wrestled tough, but got beat by the Monticello kid with whom he has had great matches over the year. He will learn from it and get better. He’s wasn’t going to go through the whole season undefeated. You have to be able to come back from a tough loss and learn from it.”
Chisago Lakes Duals
The Wildcats hosted the Chisago Lakes duals last Saturday, December 4 and went 1-3 on the day, finishing fourth. They lost to Cambridge-Isanti 56-18, fell to Kenyon Wanamingo 60-24, were crushed by Foley 69-9 and defeated New Richland-Heartland-Ellendale-Geneva 36-33.
