Wildcats starting to discover their game, top Minneapolis in overtime

Chisago Lakes 4, Minneapolis 3
Dani Burgen scored on a one-timer on a perfect pass from Rilee Winters at 4:30 of overtime to complete her second hat trick of the season and give the Wildcats a 4-3 win over the Minneapolis Novas Thursday, December 2 at Parade Ice Garden.  The Wildcats outshot the Novas 39-25 for the game, including 5-0 in overtime.

With the Wildcats trailing 1-0 after the first period, Tianna Ritter scored at 4:26 of the second period, assisted by Dani Brunette and Lauren Schmidt, to tie the score at 1-1. Minneapolis scored three minutes later to re-take the lead.  Burgen’s first goal of the game, assisted by Laine DeVries, came at 10:59 of the period and tied the game at 2-2.  Burgen scored a power play goal, with assists going to Kayla Bluhm and Winters, to give the Wildcats a 3-2 lead at 6:04 of the third period.  Minneapolis tied it at 13:26 with their second power play goal of the game  In overtime, Winters read a breakout attempt just outside the Nova blue line, intercepted a cross-ice pass, and waited for Burgen to get back onside before she skated into the zone on the right side.  She sent a pass to Burgen at the top of the left circle, and Burgen ripped a quick one-timer past the goalie and into the back of the net for the sudden death win.
