Dynamic duo of Peaslee and Kuhlman lead North Branch to a pair of victories and 3-1 record

Senior forward Paige Peaslee and freshman guard Ella Kuhlman have formed quite the tandem this year, and it was on full display last week as the Vikings went 2-0 against Two Rivers and North St. Paul.

The Vikings topped the Warriors with a big second half after trailing by three at halftime.

Peaslee and Kuhlman led the comeback charge in the second half, and the pair finished the game with a combined 47 points, 22 rebounds five assists and four steals.
“We struggled getting into a rhythm in this game, but the girls found a way to win down the stretch,” Head Coach Alison Trampe said.

The comeback was highlighted by a 17-4 run by the Lady Vikings in the final five minutes of the game to turn an eight point deficit to the five point margin of victory.

The Battle of the North’s went the way of the Vikings after a back-and-forth affair all night.

The Vikings got into a little bit of foul trouble in this contest, but they were able to weather the storm and execute at the end of the game to beat the Polars, who were 4-1 heading into the contest.

Peaslee had maybe her best game of the season for North Branch. The senior post had 28 points and 12 rebounds. Kuhlman chipped in 14 points, four board and three steals. Chloe Lattimore had a nice game in a supporting role for the Vikes, scoring seven points and securing 10 rebounds. Hailey Bistoudeau only scored one point, but did some of the dirty work for NB, grabbing four boards and dishing out a team-high five assists.

For the season, Peaslee is averaging 23 points and 11.5 rebounds per game, while Kuhlman is scoring 17 points per game to go with five rebounds and 2.8 steals.

The 3-1 Vikings had a game against Brooklyn Center postponed, so their next two games were Tuesday, December 14 at Rush City and Thursday, December 16 in their Mississippi 8 Conference opener at Monticello at 7 p.m.
