Northern Edge loses 4-3 shootout with Anoka

Northern Edge 8, Becker/Big Lake 2
Tyler Iacono had a hat trick, Isaiah Scarborough had two goals and two assists and playmaker Ben Baumgardt contributed three assists to lead the Stars to an 8-2 win over the Becker/Big Lake Eagles.  The Stars dominated the game from start to finish, outshooting the Eagles 35-15 for the game.  The game was played Tuesday, December 7 at Princeton Ice Arena.

The Stars led 2-1 after one period and 5-2 after two periods.  Trevor Ripley scored twice, Owen DuBois also had a goal, and Aaron Smith had an assist.

Anoka 4, Northern Edge 3 (O.T.)
Trevor Lang scored with 36 seconds left in overtime to give the Anoka Tornadoes a 4-3 win over the Stars Saturday, December 11 at Anoka Ice Arena.  Anoka’s Hayden Ceaser was involved with all four Tornado goals, scoring three of them and assisting on Lang’s game-winner.

Carson Thorson scored twice in the first period for the Stars, at 6:09 and 15:15, to give the Stars a 2-0 lead after one.  Owen DuBois assisted on both goals.  Ceaser answered for the Tornadoes with two goals in the first 30 seconds of the second period to tie the game at 2-2.  The game remained tied until 4:20 of the third period, when DuBois scored a shorthanded goal to give the Stars a 3-2 lead.  Ceaser scored about three minutes later to complete his hat trick and send the game into overtime.

Hockey Hullaballoo
The Stars (1-2-1) head to Pine City Civic Center to take on the Dragons tonight at 7 p.m.  And on Tuesday, December 21, the Stars will welcome the Cambridge-Isanti Blue jackets to East Bethel Ice Arena for a home game that starts at 7 p.m.
