Becker 64, North Branch 12 Three Viking wrestlers accounted for the 12 Viking points in their 64-12 dual meet loss to the Bulldogs at Becker High School Thursday, December 16. Evan Pommier (113) pinned Nolan Jurek at 3:26. Brandt Bombard (160) squeaked by Mason Doucette 8-7. And Ashton LaBelle (170) decisioned Adam Jurek 10-5.
Chisago Lakes Holiday Tournament The Vikings had two individual champions at the Chisago Lakes Holiday Tournament. Evan Pommier won the title at 113 and Ashton LaBelle claimed the crown at 170. The tournament was held last Friday, December 17 at Chisago Lakes High School.
Pommier opened by pinning Mason Lund of Rogers in a quick 1:16. He then shut out Asher Brenden of Grand Rapids in an 8-0 major decision. And in a tight championship match, Pommier decisioned Maverick Kostrzak of St. Croix Central 3-2.
LaBelle opened with a 15-0 tech fall over Kasen Bigalk of Goodhue. He went on to pin Ripley Means of Grand Rapids at 2:58 in the semifinals. And in the championship match, LaBelle crushed Grant Reed of Goodhue in a 14-3 major decision.

Wrestling Whangdoodles Brandt Bombard is ranked sixth in the state at 160 pounds in Class AA.
The Vikings’ next action won’t be until January 6, when they host the Wildcats in a dual meet at North Branch High School at 6 p.m.
CHISAGO LAKES Chisago Lakes Holiday Tourney Andrew Novack finished second at 138 pounds at the Chisago Lakes Holiday tourney, hosted by the Wildcats last Friday. Six of the seven Wildcat wrestlers entered in the tournament placed. Goodhue won the team title at the 14-team tournament, with the Wildcats turning in a tenth-place finish. Novack’s opponent for his quarterfinal match forfeited. Novack beat Tanner Morlan of Grand Rapids 6-4 in the semifinals. He lost the championship match by an identical score, 6-4, to Jason LeBlanc of Pierz.
