Northern Edge starting to turn the corner, double up on Princeton

Northern Edge 6, Princeton 3
Trevor Ripley and Loghan Croal scored two goals apiece to lead the Stars to a 6-3 win over the Princeton Tigers, Wednesday, December 29 at the National Sports Center in Blaine.  The win gave the Stars fifth place in the Herb Brooks Holiday Classic, Silver level.

Princeton jumped out to a two-goal lead in the first half of the first period.  Croal scored an unassisted goal at the nine-minute mark of the period to pull the Stars within one.
Ripley scored at 2:49 of the second period, assisted by Tyler Iacono, to tie the game at 2-2.  The Stars took control of the game early in the third period.  Iacono scored a power play goal at 2:28, assisted by DuBois, to give the Stars a 3-2 lead.  Just under two minutes later, Carsen Thorsen stretched the lead to two goals, with assists going to Weston Sabby and Ripley.  And Croal effectively put the game out of reach with a goal at the 7:11 mark to make it 5-2. Alex Langevin and Iacono picked up the assists.  Princeton did score again to cut it to 5-3. But Croal scored an unassisted goal with three minutes remaining to make the final score 6-3.

The shots were even at 42 apiece.  Stars goalie Jake Kolb stopped 39 of the 42 shots he faced.
