Wildcats and Vikes finish two-three

Chisago Lakes Invite
The Chisago Lakes and North Branch girls golf teams finished in second and third at the Mississippi 8 Conference meet at the Chisago Lakes Golf Course on Thursday, April 28.

The blustery, cold day featured some tough holes and a strong showing by Becker, who won the meet, but the local golfers had a nice showing.

The Wildcats were buoyed at their home course by juniors Haley Overgaard and Emily Erickson. Overgaard finished in second place overall with an 87 and Erickson came in third place with an 88.

Freshman Kali Hanson scored a 101 for the ‘Cats and Lilly Fasbender, a senior, registered their fourth varsity score with a 106.
Laine DeVries and Inga Heinecke were the other two varsity clubbers for the ‘Cats, with DeVries shooting a 107 and Heinecke a 114.
As a team, Chisago Lakes scored 382 strokes, 11 behind Becker’s 371.

For North Branch, they were led by senior Hailey Bistodeau’s 91 and junior Olivia Weyenberg’s 94.

Freshman Ashley Bistodeau’s 101 and senior Rachel Wurdemann’s 105 rounded out the counted scores for North Branch’s 391. Johanna Bartkey was the other golfer for the Vikes. The freshman shot a 114 at the course.

Pebble Creek Invite
North Branch and Chisago Lakes swapped spots at Big Lake’s Pebble Creek Golf Course. The Vikings came in second with a score of 385 and Chisago Lakes came in third with 392 strokes.

Becker again won the meet with a score of 377.

Hailey Bistodeau, Weyenberg, Ashley Bistodeau and Wurdemann again paced the Lady Vikes in the meet. Hailey won the meet overall as an individual, shooting an 87. She was the only golfer on the day to go below 90, as second place Alexa Voller of Becker carded a 90 and third place Brianna Brant of Monticello shot a 93.

Weyenberg shot a 95, Ashley Bistodeau shot a 97 and Wurdemann had a 106. Barkey carded a 127 as NB’s fifth golfer.
The ‘Cats registered 392 strokes as a team. They had three girls under 100 with Overgaard at 94, Erickson at 95 and Hanson at 99. Fasbender shot a 104 and Sydney Haus came in at 110. DeVries’ wrapped up the CL scoring with a 112.

Andrew Swanson highlighted Chisago Lakes’ fifth place finish at the non-conference Bluejacket Invite on Monday, May 2. Swanson shot a 78 to tie for sixth place in the 11 team field.

North Branch’s Tyler Minke was right there with him, also shooting a 78 to tie for sixth place.

Max Koch and Brett Hanson shot an 83 and 86, respectively, for Chisago Lakes to help their team score. Joe Froberg and Brock Thompson both carded an 88 to finish out CL’s scoring.

North Branch came in seventh off the back of Minke’s high finish. Jack Gladitsch, a senior, scored an 87 and Carter Magnison and Drake Dimich, a pair of seventh graders, scored an 89 and 95 respectively, which are very strong scores for that age level.
