Chisago Lakes 7, Cambridge-Isanti 0 Reed Marquardt pitched 6 2/3 innings of shutout baseball and Joe Graeve and Collin Hackl drove in two runs each to lead the Wildcats to a 7-0 win over the Cambridge-Isanti Bluejackets Tuesday, May 10 at Chisago Lakes High School. Marquardt was dominant, allowing just two hits. He walked two and struck out 12.
Hackl had a run-scoring single in the first and Graeve had a run-scoring single in the third, with both hits driving in Storm Opdahl. In the fifth, back-to-back-to-back RBI doubles by Opdahl, Graeve, and Hackl pushed the Wildcat lead to 5-0. Later n the inning, Tyler Drury singled to drive in Hackl and Mitch Torgerson scored on an error to make the final score 7-0.
Chisago Lakes 8, St. Francis 3 Down 2-0, the Wildcats exploded for eight runs in the fifth inning and beat the St. Francis Fighting Saints 8-3 Thursday, May 12 at St. Francis. Four pitchers – Cole Hentges, Collin Hackl, Logan Thorstad and Joe Grave – combined to allow three runs (two earned) and just two hits. They walked six and struck out five.
With one out in the top of the fifth, Traeson Griffin, Luke Urhammer and Nick Wasko singled to load the bases. Storm Opdahl walked to force in a run. Joe Graeve and Collin Hackl followed with back-to-back two-run doubles, and the Wildcats led 5-2. Tyler Drury’s single to left moved Hackl to third, and he scored on a sacrifice fly by Caden Gibbs. After Jack Walker walked, Griffin doubled to left to score both runners and make it 8-2.
Baseball Banter The Wildcats (7-7) will head up to the Hermantown Baseball Complex to take on the Hawks tomorrow at 4 p.m. Monday, May 23, the Wildcats will play the St. Louis Park Orioles at Dakota Park at 6 p.m. And next Tuesday, May 24, the Wildcats will host the North Branch Vikings in their final home game of the regular season at 4:30 p.m.
