'Cats clobber Princeton before two losses

Chisago Lakes 6, Princeton 0
Addyson Barrett scored three goals in a seven-minute span straddling halftime to lead the Wildcats to a 6-0 shutout win over the Princeton Tigers Thursday, September 15 at Princeton.

With three minutes left in the first half, Katelyn Barnick crossed the ball to Barrett at the near side corner of the 18-yard box and Barrett knocked it home to put the Wildcats up 1-0.  With one minute left in the half, Emily Carroll sent a long pass to Barrett, who put on a foot skills clinic and finished into the goal to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead.  Four minutes into the second half, Barnick again found Barrett. who completed the pure hat trick to increase the Viking lead to 3-0.  The Wildcats added three more goals late in the second half.  With 12:30 remaining, Isabella Heinsch sent a long pass to Carroll in the corner.  Carroll made a couple of quick moves and shot the ball into the back of the net. With two minutes remaining, Madelyn Anderson sent a high corner kick to Delia Kinney, and Kinney converted it for her first varsity goal of the season.  And with one minute to go, Heinsch picked up her second assist of the game on a goal by Ella Perrault to make the final score 6-0.

Highland Park 3, Chisago Lakes 2
The Wildcats hosted the Highland Park Scots for the first time on Saturday, September 17, and the Scots came away with a 3-2 win.  Six minutes into the contest, the Scots came down the middle and scored to go up 1-0.  Four minutes later, the now-familiar combination of Katelyn Barnick to Addyson Barrett scored the equalizer to make it 1-1.  . Early in the second half,  Highland Park scored to go up 2-1.  A few minutes later Barrett found Emily Carroll, who sent a 35-yard rocket into the back of the net to tie the game at 2-2.  But with 14 minutes remaining, the Scots scored on a Wildcat defensive breakdown to take a 3-2 lead. The Wildcats pressed hard for the final 14 minutes, but the Highland Park defense held firm until the final whistle.

Big Lake 1, Chisago Lakes 0
The Big Lake Hornets scored the only goal of the game with three minutes remaining in the second half to shut out the Wildcats 1-0 Monday, September 19 at Chisago Lakes.  The Wildcats dominated the first half in time of possession and had multiple shots on goal but were unable to find the back of the net.   In the second half, the Hornets went into a shell, playing almost all their players in their own defensive third.  The Wildcats continued to own the possession game, but the Hornets held firm.  With three minutes to go, the Hornets mounted an attack on the left side and made one of the few shots they had in the match count for a goal to send the Wildcats down to defeat.
