NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

REGARDING THE ADOPTION OF BUSINESS SUBSIDY CRITERIA, THE PROPOSED GRANTING OF A BUSINESS SUBSIDY, AND A PROPOSED PROPERTY TAX ABATEMENT
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Supervisors of Nessel Township, Minnesota (the “Town”) will meet on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, at 7:00 p.m., to hold a public hearing concerning the following:
(i) the adoption of written business subsidy criteria pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, Sections 116J.993 through 116J.995 (the “Business Subsidy Act”);
(ii) a proposed business subsidy to Qwest Corporation, d/b/a Century Link QC (“Qwest”), to finance a portion of the construction and installation by Qwest of high speed internet within the Town (the “Project”); and
(iii) a proposal that the Town abate all or a portion of property taxes levied by the Town on the properties identified by the following parcel identification numbers (the “Property”):
The total amount of the taxes proposed to be abated by the Town on the Property is estimated not to exceed $1,626,414. The Town Board will consider the property tax abatement to finance the Town’s share of costs of the Project.
Information about the proposed tax abatements, a copy of the proposed business subsidy criteria and a draft of the business subsidy agreement are on file and available for public inspection at the office of the Town Clerk at the Town Hall during regular business hours.
Any person with residence in or the owner of taxable property in the Township may file a written complaint with the Township if the Township fails to comply with the Business Subsidy Act, and no action may be filed against the Township for the failure to comply unless a written complaint is filed.
All interested persons may appear (unless held via teleconference), and be heard at the public hearing either orally or in writing or may file written comments with the Town Clerk/Treasurer before the hearing.
