Annual Meeting and
Election of 1 Area 2 Board of Directors position

The Annual Meeting of the Chisago Lakes Lake Improvement District (LID) will be Monday, February 7, 2022, at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be a combination of a virtual and in-person meeting. The in-person meeting will be in conference room 150B, lowest level, Chisago County Government Center, 313 North Main Street, Center City. Social distancing of a minimum 6 feet between individuals and/or family groups must be maintained for those who wish to participate in-person. Meeting room overflow areas are limited to adjacent hallways and public spaces should available meeting space become full. Prior to the meeting, the online address for the virtual meeting will be posted on the LID website at http://www.chisagocounty. us/300/Lake-Improvement-District.
The mission of the Chisago Lakes Lake Improvement District is to restore, preserve, protect and enhance the water resources of the Chisago Lakes Chain of Lakes watershed. The Annual Meeting will include a presentation showcasing 2021 projects and activities.
In addition, from January 4 through February 7, 2022 there will be an election for one Area 2 Board of Directors position. Election results will be presented at the Annual Meeting. A map showing Board Member areas can be found at www. chisagocounty.us/LIDMap2016.
The Chisago Lakes Lake Improvement District solicited applications for the Area 2 Board of Directors position. Publication and notice of candidate filing opportunities occurred in the December 2021 issues of the Chisago County Press. The notice was distributed among area lake associations and posted on the Chisago Lakes Lake Improvement District website. The candidate application deadline for the Area 2 Board of Directors positions expired on December 30, 2021. Registered candidates are identified as follows:
Area 2 Board of Directors Election
Area 2 is bounded by Highway 8 on the North, County Road 25 (Olinda Trail) to the West and includes the Southeast corner of the Chisago Lakes Lake Improvement District. Blooms, Linn, Ogren, Pearson, South Center and Swamp Lakes are included in this area. Candidate(s) that have submitted an application include: Jill Behnke, Robert Klatt and Scott Noland.
Absentee and In-Person Voting:
Absentee ballots are available to any eligible voter requesting one. Absentee ballots can be requested on line at www.chisagocounty.us/LIDAbsentee
Ballot. Eligible voters include all of the property owners residing in the Chisago Lakes Lake Improvement District. Each property owner, including owners of more than one property, is entitled to one vote. Property owner’s names must be identified on Chisago County property tax records as owners of property. The list of property owners residing in the District will be updated from the Chisago County records within 30 days of an election. If the property is owned by a Trust or other entity, documentation of Individual Trustees or owners must be provided prior to receiving a ballot and voting.
Absentee ballots must be delivered to the Chisago County Government Center outdoor main entrance drop box or brought indoors to the Environmental Services office, 313 North Main Street, Center City, MN 55012 by 4:30 p.m. Monday, February 7, the day of the annual meeting. Absentee ballots received after 4:30 p.m. are void and will not be counted. In order to receive and return an absentee ballot by US mail it is recommended your request for a ballot be received no later than Monday, January 24, 2022. Absentee ballots may be returned in person up to 4:30 p.m. on the day of the election.
In person voting will take place Monday, February 7, 2022 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. To vote in person proceed to the Environmental Services office, Suite 240, 313 North Main Street, Center City, MN 55012. No voting will take place during the Annual Meeting which starts at 6:30 p.m.
