BOARD OF EDUCATION, Chisago Lakes Schools ISD #2144, 29678 Karmel Ave., Chisago City, MN 55013 December 16, 2021 Regular Meeting MINUTES

(January 13, 2022)

Members Present: Lori Berg, Mark Leigh, Brenda Carlson, Danielle Strenke, Jeff Lindeman, Sarah Aadland, Superintendent Dean Jennissen, Student Rep. John Douglas.
    
Members Absent: None.

Remote: Auditors Brad Falteysek & Tyler See.

Visitors: Jodi Davis, Robyn Vosberg-Torgerson Eric Simmons, Kevin Schumann, 6 on line guests at 6:00 p.m.

1. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. and began with the Pledge of Allegiance.

2. The Truth in Taxation presentation commenced at 6:02 PM, led by Robyn Vosberg-Torgerson, Director of Business Services.  

3. There were no questions or comments from the public.

4. Motion by Berg, seconded by Carlson with all in favor of closing the Truth in Taxation Hearing at 6:16 p.m., motion carried.
    
5. Motion by Berg, seconded by Carlson with all in favor of opening the Regular School Board Meeting at 6:17 p.m.
    
6. Motion by Berg, seconded by Carlson with all in favor of accepting the agenda as written.
    
7. Motion by Berg, seconded by Aadland with all in favor of accepting the Annual Audit Presentation by Abdo Solutions and the Director of Business Services.

8. There were no Open Forum participants.

9. Robyn Vosberg-Torgerson, Director of Business Services, presented the November financials.

10. John Douglas, student board rep, commented on how he thinks school is going at the HS.  
    
11. Brief Board Committee updates were shared.

12. Superintendent Jennissen gave updates and the Tic Toc “non-event” on 12/17.

13. The MSBA Leadership conference in January is requiring masks on all those in attendance.
    
14. Motion by Strenke, seconded by Carlson with all in favor of approving the consent agenda items as presented;

▪ Claims and Accounts: The first set of computer payables dated November 15, 2021, for check number 141375 through 141497 in the amount of $587,061.81.  The second set of computer payables dated November 30, 2021 for check number 141498 through 141604 in the amount of $390,878.02.  Hand payables / 17 Bonds in the amount of $778,635.89.  Hand payables / General Fund in the amount of $430,319.34.  Employee timecard reimbursement dated November 9, 2021 in the amount of $6,611.02.  Employee timecard reimbursement dated November 22, 2021 in the amount of $3,322.18.

▪ Approve Minutes from 11/18/2021: The minutes from the November 18, 2021 board meeting are attached for approval.

▪ Enrollment: As of 12/13/2021 there were 3296 students enrolled at Chisago Lakes Schools.

▪Grants/Donations: Attached is documentation from Donors Choice for a $1,908.54 donation to the HS Science Department and one from the Center City Fire Department for $4,000.00 for the Taylors Falls promethean boards.

15. Motion by Carlson, seconded by Lindeman to approve the student trip to New York in the fall of 2022 as presented with all in favor, motion carried.

16. Motion by Carlson, to approve Certifying the Levy for $11,073,689.20 as presented and submit to Chisago County and MDE.
    
17. Chairman Leigh called for a Special Meeting for Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 6:00 PM to consider allegations against three employees.  Meeting was set and posted.
    
18. Motion by Berg, to approve the change order #004 for sheet metal pipe enclosures for fin tube at Primary School,  seconded by Strenke with all in favor, motion carried.
    
19. Motion by Lindeman, seconded by Berg with all in favor of setting the Organizational Meeting date for January 6, 2022 with an inclement weather date of Monday, January 10, 2022 at 6:00 p.m.
    
20. Motion by Berg, seconded by Carlson to adjourn at 7:27 p.m. with all in favor, motion carried.
