CHISAGO COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION - NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

(May 12, 2022)

The Chisago County Planning Commission will meet on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. in the County Board Room at the Chisago County Government Center, 313 N. Main Street, Center City, MN. The Chisago County Board of Commissioners will receive the Planning Commission’s recommendations and review applications on Wednesday, June 15, 2022. The Commission’s tour of the agenda items has been scheduled for Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at 9:00 a.m., departing from Chisago County Public Works at 31325 Oasis Road, Center City, MN. The meetings and tour are open to the public.

The following items will be included on the June 2, 2022 Planning Commission agenda:

Public Hearings – New Applications:

Jim & Sher Investments LLC – Jim & Sher Investments LLC, property owner, represented by Jim Goodpaster and Sherry Timmermann Goodpaster, is requesting a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) for Rural Retail Tourism in order to establish a winery in the Agricultural (AG) District. The 5.66-acre property is located on Upland Road, approximately 410 feet north of Furuby Road / CSAH 20, Shafer Township, S23, T34, R19 (PID# 08.00251.35).

Dale Evangelical Free Church – Dale Evangelical Free Church, property owner, and Chris Zuspann and Link Wilson, applicants, are requesting a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) for a Church in the Agricultural (AG) District. The Church is an existing non-conforming use and the CUP, if approved, would establish the Church as a conforming use by bringing it into compliance with the Zoning Ordinance. The 2.30-acre property is located at 45268 Brunswick Road, Fish Lake Township, S17, T36, R22 (PID# 03.00223.00).

James Birkholz & Judith Erickson – James Birkholz & Judith Erickson, property owners and owners of Pleasant Valley Orchard, are requesting a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) Amendment in order to expand the orchard to include a winery and gathering venue in the Agricultural (AG) District. The property owners also wish to amend certain CUP conditions previously approved in 1994 and 2006. The property is located at 17325 Pleasant Valley Road, Franconia Township, S17, T33, R19 (PID# 04.00186.00).

This notice includes the complete Public Hearing portion of the agenda. The full agenda, including Old Business, New Business, and Miscellaneous items, will be posted on the County’s website – www.chisagocountymn.gov/agendacenter – on or before Monday, May 27, 2022.
