PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that at a public hearing on Thursday, February 23, at 6:30 p.m. via online video teleconference, the CLFLWD Board of Managers will receive public comment under Minnesota Statutes 103B.251 on the ordering of the Washington Judicial Ditch 6 (WJD-6) Wetland Restoration Project.
The estimated cost for the Project is approximately $496,000, pending final design and construction bidding. Of this amount, a Clean Water Fund grant will supply $386,000 and the remainder would come from the CLFLWD ad valorem tax levy on real property within the watershed, apportioned between Chisago and Washington Counties in accordance with the net tax capacity of each.
The Project will restore a wetland located south of Forest Lake, including sediment excavation and vegetation rehabilitation. The current wetland condition is partially drained by a small private ditch that flows into Washington Judicial Ditch 6 (WJD-6) and eventually into Forest Lake. The wetland is currently 100% dominated by invasive reed canary grass. This project is estimated to reduce phosphorus loading to Forest Lake by approximately 20 pounds per year and improve wetland wildlife habitat.
