construction for CL School District
The July Chisago Lakes School Board meeting featured a bevy of updates on important topics in the district.
This year is still tracking for a deficit at the end of the fiscal year. “There are still many unknowns as we tie up the 2019 budget,” Superintendent Dean Jennissen said at the meeting.
All of the 2019 financials will be known and dissected through the audit process, which will be presented at a meeting late in 2019, either November or December.
There were several change orders for the construction projects, which Jennissen said is typical for projects this size.
The district is also working on the online auction for items no longer needed. Contact Jodi Davis at 651-213-2011 for more information on the items and how to bid.
The Wildcat Community Center is getting ever-so-close to opening. Community Education Director Bob Meyer is hoping for mid-August to the general public, but some parking lot and sidewalk work needs to finish up, as well as security measures inside.
The board did schedule public open house for the Community Center, as well as the new Lakeside Elementary, on homecoming weekend, October 4 and 5.
As for the sale of the current Lakeside school property in Chisago City, Core Commercial and the Shaleen Realty team have given presentations to sell the property, but Director of Business Services Doug Hasler is seeking additional proposals to sell and will have those presentations at the August board meeting.
Both Core and Shaleen are still being considered as viable agents, but the district wants to make sure to explore every option before making a final decision.
