12/12/2019 1:52:00 PM North Branch robotics teams fare well at Lakeville tournament
Three North Branch FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) teams competed in late November at Lakeville South High School. With numerous first year groups, it was a tremendous learning experience for driving the robot, learning game strategies, and finding ways to improve the robot before the next competition.
Team 7288 entered the tournament with the most team members returning from last year and it showed as they advanced from the qualifying rounds to the elimination rounds, where their day ended with a loss in the semi-finals.
All three teams will be in action again the weekend of December 14-15 as North Branch Middle School hosts a Qualifying Tournament with 28 teams competing on Saturday and Sunday. Please come and support North Branch teams as 7288 competes on Saturday and 8636 and 8637 compete on Sunday. Teams from Chisago Lakes and Cambridge Isanti will also be competing.
The event is FREE for the public with Opening Ceremonies beginning at 10:45 and competition running from 11-4:30. Spectators can visit the pits to look at all the robots and sit in the stands to cheer on their favorite team.
The teams are open to students in grades 7-9. Look for sign up information in the spring to join a team.
