| Viking Vittles put out 9,000 bags last year; Wed. and Thurs. pick-ups coming | Viking Vittles just wrapped up the 2021-2022 school year having distributed over 9,000 bags of food providing 18,000 plus meals for student PK-5th grade who are food insecure. In addition, care closets at the middle and high school not only provided food but school supplies, personal care items, as well as clothing such as winter coats, hats, mittens and shoes for students in need. | Edelstein Foundation funding tops $1 million | Picture this time of year in 1909, as graduates from the North Branch High School gathered for commencement of the first North Branch High School Class. The valedictorian could not have known that the typed text of his speech would be read and re-read over the following decades. Valedictorian Jacob Edelstein and his brother David and their sister Ruth, carved their place in North Branch history in establishing a pool of money that has now surpassed $1 million in scholarships awarded to North Branch grads. based on growing enrollment; for a change | The Minnesota legislative session ended in May with stacks of un-finished business and any special session date is still pending. The situation leaves North Branch School Board members taking an early look at next year’s budget, realistically basing decisions thus far on a known two percent aid increase. | North Branch Board hears of
mechanic instruction at bus barn | North Branch administration and the 4.0 Student Services transportation provider are putting together a new program for students enrolled in mechanic programs at the high school. As part of the latest contract with 4 Point-O there is a clause for providing workshop/lab space at the bus garage, for students enrolled in mechanics courses. The bus garage is directly across Grand Avenue from the high school; and Finance Director Todd Tetzlaff remarked that students who have been driving to Pine Technical College in Pine City for lab learning will soon just have to go across the street. | TF Elementary represents at Math Masters |
Taylors Falls School sent a large group to compete in Math Masters in Hammond, Wisconsin, April 22. Math Masters is for grades 4, 5 and 6. There are 50 in-person events in Minnesota and Wisconsin being held in 2022. Fourth graders were brought into the contest for the first time this year. Winners in Fact Drill, Individual and Team events get awards and everybody gets a t-shirt and snacks. Friday, April 29, 2022

| Still no official vote on fall levy, but CL District heading in that direction | The Chisago Lakes School Board continued to move towards a fall operating levy vote but didn’t take an official action yet. It seems to be a given at this point that it will be on the ballot, but the Board members are still planning out how much they should ask for and what the dollars would be spent on.
