Help support rapidly growing high school band program, band booster garage sale Nov. 9
The Chisago Lakes Marching Band wrapped up its 2019 season October 14 with an incredible Indoor Concert. The newly formed and official non-profit Chisago Lakes Band Boosters put on a “Bandquet” for all 75 students before the concert to honor them and their families for all the hard work and dedication they contributd for such a successful season! Band Boosters also presented each student with a keychain as a small token of appreciation for how well each student played their part. They hope it is a nice reminder of how much they mean to the community and the school.

Wildcat Community Center welcomes open for business
The Chisago Lakes Community Center is open for your fitness activities.  The center celebrated its dedication and ribbon cutting Friday October 4, shown above, High School Principal David Ertl to far right and school district officials at the steps to the elevated walking track.  The community center project was a collaboration with Wold Architects, ICS and Donlar Construction management.

LREMS, Family Pathways and Chisago Lakes Schools team up for good cause
Lakes Region EMS, Family Pathways, along with each Chisago Lakes school offers a program to make sure that kids have the food they need for weekends and over holiday breaks.   Above left to right: LREMS Community Outreach Specialist Jessica Keeney, Chisago Lakes Primary Principal Brenda Schell, Family Pathways Director Kathy Willis and Chisago Lakes Middle School Principal Ralph Fairchild.   The young students are provided food items, packed in their school backpacks, to bring home when they are not  receiving a meal in school. Family Pathways Food Pantries help with the food items.

Preliminary North Branch School Board levy adopted
North Branch School Distirct 138 Finance Director Dr. Todd Tetzlaff described the pay-2020 levy that he presented last week as “pretty consistent” with 2019’s.  Then, minus member Kevin Bollman, the Board approved the 2020 package 5-0.  The levy was the only item on the agenda.

North Branch opens some of their new projects
North Branch Supt. Dr. Deb Henton spoke at the Sept. 6 community tour and open house showcasing some of the projects that voters made happen in the North Branch School District. MDE releases North Branch Area Schools tests scores
The Minnesota Department of Education has released districtwide MCA III results for the 2018-2019 (last year) school term. Scores on the MCA III reading test are measured in grades three through eight and again in grade 10.

North Branch School Board hears should be extra safety money out of state budget
The North Branch School Board, with Tim MacMillan absent, heard some good news on the financial front last week.  The state legislature dedicated an amount from budget surplus late this summer,  to go to schools.  The plan is for the supplemental school safety aid to go into a district account to be used as if it were a safe schools levy.

Fourth grade enrollment closed for non-residents of Chisago Lakes
On Thursday, August 8, the Chisago Lakes School Board voted to close non-resident enrollment for the fourth grade level at Taylors Falls Elementary and the brand new Lakeside Elementary, citing a full grade level.

Groundbreaking for Community Center
Members of the current and past Chisago Lakes School Board were on hand to break ground on the new community center.  The building will sit on the current student parking lot next to the swimming pool.  The community center will be utilized by both students and the public and is expected to be completed by February of 2019.

CLHS students promote discussion, sharing of ideas as part of walk-out
Friday, April 20 was the 19th anniversary of the Columbine High School mass shooting murders.  On this day Chisago Lakes high schoolers, and more than 2,600 other student groups around the nation,  participated in walkouts and respectful protest.

Chisago Lakes School Board gets good news on construction projects
The Chisago Lakes School Board met April 12 for a regular meeting.  All members were in attendance.  After approving paying the bills, the board recognized student athletes from the winter sports season.
