East Central Energy donates to North Branch district
Teachers at Sunrise River Elementary in North Branch received a delivery of school supplies from East Central Energy (ECE). Known as Teacher Totes, the items were donated by ECE in partnership with CoBank a financial institution that supports the work of cooperatives nationwide through their Sharing Success program.

In a mostly procedural meeting on Thursday, September 24, the Chisago Lakes School Board went over some future budget plans and their preference to stay in a hybrid model.

Private partners making unique year in North Branch Schools a little easier; with space, food and expertise
North Branch School District officials have finalized a deal to lease space at the outlet mall for instructional space this school year.  The 10-month lease was approved unanimously by the six school board members Thursday last week in special session.

Chisago Lakes band student Grace Thoma and marching band boosters set their minds to so some virtual fundraising over the summer, and to help build an account to buy new band uniforms; middle school band instructor, and high school marching band assistant director Steven Boal, offered his hair as the reward.

ISD 2144 Superintendent Dean Jennissen, Chisago Lakes Schools, released the district reopening plan the end of last week, that a task force of some 60-plus district officials, instructors, etc. have put together.

District back-to-learning plans down to fine details; final version release set for Aug. 7
Going strictly by the data-- Chisago County schools would be allowed to go with in person school days for this coming year. The county is at 5.85 new cases of covid-19 per 10,000 population landing it squarely within the state guidance for letting kids return. But, both North Branch and Chisago Lakes School Districts will be making plans for the hybrid learning model this year.

The Chisago Lakes School Board held a special meeting on Monday, July 27 with the purpose of hiring their new Director of Food Services at longtime employee Kathy Burrill retired.

Groundbreaking for Community Center
Members of the current and past Chisago Lakes School Board were on hand to break ground on the new community center.  The building will sit on the current student parking lot next to the swimming pool.  The community center will be utilized by both students and the public and is expected to be completed by February of 2019.

CLHS students promote discussion, sharing of ideas as part of walk-out
Friday, April 20 was the 19th anniversary of the Columbine High School mass shooting murders.  On this day Chisago Lakes high schoolers, and more than 2,600 other student groups around the nation,  participated in walkouts and respectful protest.

The Chisago Lakes School Board met April 12 for a regular meeting.  All members were in attendance.  After approving paying the bills, the board recognized student athletes from the winter sports season.
