Monday, September 24 the state patrol released preliminary information about a multi-vehicle crash involving two area women, reported about 6:45 p.m. that day.
The crash happened on I-35 northbound in Anoka County, as traffic came to a stop in the left lane.

Injured were Sandra Mielke, 71, and Renee Miller, 58, both of Shafer.

According to the state patrol three vehicles were stopped in a line in the left northbound lane, when a Pontiac Montana driven by a 20-year-old female,  from Arden Hills crashed into the last in line, causing a chain reaction.

Miller was brought to Regions, Mielke went to North Memorial.

The third driver involved, at the front of the line, was unhurt.  He was in a Silverado truck.  Both Mielke and Miller were driving Ford Escapes.

September 23 Lakes Area Police were asked to check the welfare of a Chisago City man, because his name came up in the state database as the registered owner for a boat found floating empty on the Mississippi.  The man was located; he had traded the boat for a motorcycle and he gave authorities contact information for the current boat owner.

An 80-year-old  driver who executed a dangerous vehicular movement, observed by a Lakes Area police officer on patrol, was arrested for DUI. The arrest was at Hwy. 8 and Sportsmens Drive about 1:45 a.m.

September 22
Trees downed in Taylors Falls at First and Government Streets. County sheriff patrol assisted with road closure.

September 21 help was requested of Lakes Area Police to locate a suspect who had eluded arrest near 240th (Washington County line) and Manning Trail. A perimeter was set up about 11:40 p.m.

Lock cut at Hwy. 8 Self-Storage, Shafer.  A second unit believed to have been entered forcibly too.

September 20 two new home construction sites were burglarized. No details about items stolen. Both sites in Chisago City.

A couple of school bus STOP ARM violations reported over the week. Please remember the extended stop arm means traffic in both directions must stop while children get on and off the bus and get off the traveled roadway safely.

September 19 the Swedish Immigrant Trail segment near Rydeen and 305th was vandalized. Suspect is assumed to be a party embroiled in lot line dispute as “no trespassing” was spray painted on trail, and there was the word “trail,” with an arrow pointing off the paved portion.

September 17 a female was detained and questioned for taking water from spigots at the county fairgrounds. She was driving after a revocation violation. The deputy said she walked from the scene leaving the car behind.  This happened about 2:40 a.m.
