Saturday, October 12 a two vehicle crash was reported at the four-way stop intersection on Stacy Trail and Lofton Avenue, north of Chisago City about 4:45 p.m. Sheriff deputies report a vehicle northbound on Lofton stopped and proceeded on Lofton and her car was hit in the middle of the intersection by a westbound vehicle. No serious injuries were reported.
October 10 Report of a garage fire on Malmberg, and Lindstrom firefighters responded. It was reported about 10 a.m. No injury reported.
October 9 a miter saw reported missing from a storage building in Stacy.
October 8 a school bus for Chisago Lakes Dist. ended up on its side in a ditch on Ivywood Trail, Chisago City, after an oncoming vehicle forced it to the very edge of the road where it sunk on soft soils, according to the driver. Kids were transferred to a back-up bus and no injury reported. Incident reported at 3:13 p.m.
Lakes Area Police are holding a passport believed lost that was turned into authorities. It is for a citizen of a South American nation. To claim contact LAPD 651- 257-0622 and describe.
October 7 Items were stolen out of a car parked at the Lent Twsp. Park & Ride on #17. Woman had been on a short bike ride on the Sunrise Prairie Trail and returned to find items missing.
Lakes Area Police retrieved a car reported as stolen and arrested a 23-year-old male.
An overnight quick change swindle reported at a business in Chisago City. Loss was $200. Quick change artists will make a nominal purchase and pay for it with a very large denomination, breaking down the large bill to smaller bills and then confuse a cashier by switching those to other bills.
A riding lawnmower reported fully engulfed at an address on Osceola Road, Franconia Township. Shafer-Franconia firefighters responded. Call came in at 5:25 p.m.
A male fell from a ladder on Nathan Court in Lindstrom and was reported to not be breathing and had to be transported to the hospital.
U.S. Flag theft reported from an address on Elm Street in Lindstrom, with some damage to the pole resulting.
The latest round of seatbelt and child restraint enforcement activities statewide and involving 300 agencies, took place from September 16 to 28.
The saturation involved state patrol as well. In the Chisago County area --which is District 2400-- tickets were issued for 265 seatbelt violations and 12 child restraint devices being used incorrectly or not at all. The state patrol district statistics were not broken down by locale.
Chisago County sheriff’s office wrote 10 seatbelt offense tickets, Wyoming Police wrote one seatbelt ticket, Lakes Area Police wrote seven, North Branch wrote three. No area law enforcement wrote any child restraint violations. Child restraint laws require a child up to age 8 or until they grow to four feet 9 inches tall, to be in a childseat or booster seat. Older, larger children then use vehicle seatbelts.
