NOTICE:  The jail is closed to the public as well as the Chisago County Public Safety Center building.  Sheriff administration can be reached at 257-4100 if you have an immediate paperwork or permit need.  For how to move forward  on a purchase or carry permit please email toni.schwartz@chisagocounty.us  

Jail visitation is through inmatecanteen.com from outside of the Public Safety Center, as the on-site video inmate chat stations are not open.

March 21 an exploded pipe bomb device was found on the roadway at 420th and County Highway 30,  in North Branch.  Local police assisted in blocking roadway while explosives experts checked it out. Anyone with information should contact NBPD. Another pipe bomb was detonated by St. Paul Bomb Squad the week before this,  in the north end of the county.

A single vehicle crash at Hwy. 97 and I-35, about 4:30 a.m.,  sent the lone driver to the hospital in an air ambulance.  The 27 year old woman from Somerset, Wisconsin went off the northbound lane and hit a guardrail. No impairment was indicated by state patrol, who responded.
Two propane storage tanks reported stolen from a camper at Flickabirds at Rush Lake.

Male arrested for alleged domestic incident in Rush City on West 4th St. Incident reported about 11 p.m.

A passerby noticed lights in the woods off Hemingway and County Road 19 about 2 a.m.  On inspection they found a female in an overturned truck and called 9-1-1.  The woman was conscious and told officials she had left work at her job in Lindstrom, about 10:30 p.m. and did not recall what happened.  Stacy-Lent First Responders, Wyoming Police and Lakes Region EMS assisted deputies. She was transported for care.

March 20, Lakes Area Police were asked to assist Washington County in a law enforcement pursuit heading north toward Lindstrom about 10:35 p.m. Stop sticks were to be deployed on Olinda Trail, but the suspect rolled the vehicle at approximately Morgan Avenue and Olinda, where authorities took custody.

A burn pile sparked a small grassfire in Fish Lake Township about 1:40 p.m. The DNR and Cambridge Fire aided at the scene.

There was a suspected natural gas leak at an address in Lindstrom on First Avenue, reported about 4 p.m. Responders found it was a smell related to standing water in drains.

A serviceperson reported being bitten by a dog, about 5:25 p.m.,  while inside of an address in Lindstrom on Second Avenue for an appliance repair.
The last two weeks there had been a burglary at an empty home in Chisago City. Lakes Area Police took the call.

March 19 the sheriff’s office had a called in complaint that The Fuse in Harris was open in violation of bar closing annuonced by the Governor.  The deputy found eight people inside with drinks, and the owner said they were all employees helping for free doing a remodel inside over the virus-induced halt of business.  The carpet had been ripped up and the deputy observed other signs substantiating the explanation, so no ticket issued.

March 18 a suicidal person was transported for care to a metro hospital.

In Rush City, the Rush Estates dryer and washer had been damaged to get at the coins. Happened sometime in the past 24 hours.

March 17 a grassfire at an address on John Trail, rural Chisago City. Authorities were dispatched about 3 p.m.  Burning prohibition warning given.

March 13 another burned hulk of a vehicle reported in the north end of the county, this one was a GMC Acadia, in Rushseba Township.  This is the third vehicle recently torched and abandoned in the north end.  The VIN number matched a report  of one stolen out of St. Paul.
