April 25 the Lakes Area Police detained a suspect believed to have just spray painted graffiti on the skatepark equipment in Chisago City, and he is also being investigated for other similar style vandalism incidents in Lindstrom and Chisago City. A call came in about 8:20 p.m. alerting authorities the skatepark vandalism was occurring.
A motorcycle/pickup truck crash sent the motorcycle rider by ground transport to Regions for medical care. Stacy-Lent First Responders assisted along with Lakes Region EMS, North Branch and Wyoming Police.
The sheriff’s office reports the crash happened approximately 11 a.m. The location was Athens Trail and I-35 (County Road 17 interchange) in Lent Township. The pickup driver, a juvenile from Lakeville, was not hurt. Accident details were unclear, but it’s believed the pickup was exiting the freeway on the northbound ramp and the Harley Davidson was being ridden eastbound on Athens Trail.
The scene is under investigation. The motorcyclist, a 32-year old from North Branch, was not helmeted.
Sheriff deputies responded to a call about a fire on 425th near Harris about 4:40 p.m. Harris firefighters and the DNR were there and handled the grass fire. A second call that same day was a complaint that a field had been burned without a permit. This incident was on 325th.
A report of an injured American bald eagle came into dispatch and sheriff deputies collected the bird from where it had been grounded at a parcel on Fernwood Trail, North Branch. The deputy checked with DNR and Raptor Center, who were okay with the bird being transported to a parrot rescue compound in the Forest Lake area until it could be safely brought to the Raptor Center.
A boat was reported on fire about half-past midnight, at an address on Andee Avenue in Fish Lake Township. Cambridge firefighters responded. A fish house there also reportedly caught fire. A neighbor had alerted the property owner.
April 24 large amount of smoke nearby MidWestOne Bank in Chisago City worried a caller to 9-1-1, about 11:50 p.m. Turned out to be a recreational fire, that authorities said was legal. Dry conditions had caused state officials to ban most burning last week, although small (three-feet ring) contained and monitored recreational fires were allowed.
April 23 a catalytic convertor had been cut off a vehicle at an auto sales lot in Chisago City.
April 22 Lakes Area Police issued a ticket for too many vehicles and debris being kept on a residential lot on Marine Court, Lindstrom.
April 21 the state was made aware of unlawful dumping of rock and stone into South Lindstrom Lake at an address in Lindstrom.
Sheriff deputies were alerted to a dog on dog attack reported on Isle Drive.
* Multiple all terrain vehicle violations were taking up law enforcement time last week. There were issues with reported illegal ATV activity in Sunrise Township. Chisago City, Lindstrom, Fish Lake Township and Harris areas.
