Lakes Area Police were seeing a heightened awareness and concern about healthcare worker safety, probably in light of the recent shooting and explosives at the Allina Clinic in Buffalo. Calls were received about a belligerent disruptive patient at a Lindstrom clinic and officers were dispatched. The individual was gone when they arrived. Also, officers escorted late night healthcare staff to their vehicles Feb. 11.
A deceased individual was located when LAPD and firefighters responded to a call to an address in Lindstrom, Wednesday, Feb. 10 about 3 p.m. There was a quantity of smoke that needed venting and signs of a fire near the body that had been put out, which LFD made sure was totally extinguished. The Medical Examiner and State Fire Marshal have been involved in the investigation.
Also Febuary 10 a two car crash reported on Hwy. 8 in Center City, about 1:37 p.m. State Patrol has information, but preliminary reports are a car was in the turn lane for Center City eastbound, and turned into a westbound vehicle that had the right of way. Center City Fire Dept. assisted with traffic.
There have been multiple mini-storage business sites reporting break-ins and burglary of stored items over recent days. Incidents range from Rush City to Shafer, in the south end.
Sheriff’s deputies made two arrests in connection with the alleged Shafer offense, reported Feb. 12. The authorities are contacting owners law enforcement has identified as involved in this case, for them to look over recovered goods and claim their property. Other sites reporting broken locks, etc. include two businesses in Rush City, and Wild River storage units in Almelund.
A fire reported at a residence on Montclair in Lindstrom, February 11 about 3:23 p.m. The Center City, Chisago and Lindstrom fire departments were sent, the fire had started in the basement near a wood burner and went into the walls.
February 13 a set of keys was turned into Lakes Area Police in Lindstrom, found on North Center Lake. Call office and describe to claim.
February 14 a 59-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of a first degree assault at a location in Chisago City. LAPD were called about a domestic argument in a parking lot and the suspects had moved to a continued disturbance at a home, where police located them. A stabbing allegedly occured in the interim, and a male was transported to Regions for medical attention.
