The school buses are active on the roads daily now, after spring break and covid-19 on-site learning models back on track for a time. Lakes Area Police got a couple calls of vehicles ignoring stop arms and endangering children.  Please be aware of bus stops and youngsters moving about. Come to a full stop in the vision of the bus driver, well back from the bus, when the arm on the side of the bus is extended.

March 16 a pickup left running at Sunrise Market, Stacy, was stolen. Reported about 10:20 p.m.

A pedestrian was hit March 17 in Lindstrom, at Park and First Streets. Accident reported about 4:50 p.m. Individual was transported for care. No state patrol report yet available.

March 17 a vehicle reportedly was stuck in soft ground in the Chisago Lake Lutheran Cemetery in Center City and was needing a tow. Driver was cited for no drivers license.

Two vehicle crash with no injury reported at Chisago Blvd. and Olinda south of Lindstrom. A Ford Fusion driver was crossing on Olinda and said he stopped at the stop sign and proceeded and didn’t see a northbound F150 pickup. The Fusion collided nearly broadside. Both vehicles needed to be towed.

Outdoor activities are picking up with the nice weather and law enforcement is handling non-compliant recreational fires, a dog bite and unlawful ATV operation, along with other outside-related issues. There were two riders deputy cited March 21 for running ATVs on Sunrise Township roads minus their safety certification and in violation of use restrictions.

March 20 fireworks set off a field fire off Government Road in Rushseba Township, about 9 p.m.  One individual was cited for burn without a permit and fireworks violations. Rush City Fire handled the grassfire.

March 18 a garage fully engulfed was called in about 8:45 a.m. on Jesse Avenue in Sunrise Township. Nearby home siding was beginning to melt when firefighters arrived, and contained the flames.
