Two separate incidents on Highway 8 last week sent injured people to area hospitals for care.

In one incident a man riding a bicycle either fell or was struck by an unknown vehicle and suffered head trauma when he encountered pavement, at Redwing and Highway 8 in the Shafer area.

The victim was found and reported to 9-1-1 about 3 a.m. July 3.  Authorities identify the bike rider as 28-year-old Tyler Joseph Rosendahl, North Branch.

The second incident was a pick-up and dump truck collision on the east side of Center City, June 30, about 5:30 p.m.  The injured party was taken to Regions.

The state patrol was not releasing the report as is regular practice. The patrol only stated the driver sustained non life-threatening injuries.  The investigation is on-going.

However, sheriff’s personnel, who assisted at the scene along with Shafer-Franconia Fire and Lakes Region EMS, and Lakes Area Police, report the dump truck was stopped on the highway lane waiting to turn, with left turn signal on, as it faced westbound.  The pickup truck driver, who is not identified, was also westbound.  She reportedly rear-ended the dump truck according to people at the scene, who also aided the pickup driver to a safe distance from the resulting fire,  as responders arrived.
