March 28 there was a pursuit of a fleeing suspect along Highway 8, at approximately 10 p.m. which halted when the hazards to the public became unavoidable.  The incident was resolved with the arrest of the suspect at the Holiday Station in Lindstrom. Friday, April 2, 2021

The school buses are active on the roads daily now, after spring break and covid-19 on-site learning models back on track for a time. Lakes Area Police got a couple calls of vehicles ignoring stop arms and endangering children.  Please be aware of bus stops and youngsters moving about. Come to a full stop in the vision of the bus driver, well back from the bus, when the arm on the side of the bus is extended. Friday, March 26, 2021

Shafer resident killed in rollover The MN State Patrol identified the victim in a single vehicle rollover crash Monday, March 8 as Paul Fuller Lawrence, 34, of Shafer.  According to preliminary reports he was northbound alone in a 2016 Nissan Frontier truck when it left the roadway, after veering from the left lane to the right lane, and it hit an embankment, rolled and came to rest on its wheels.
