CENTER CITY MAYOR

Jill Behnke
QUESTION #1
Start your response by informing readers which seat you are running for.  Describe what you specifically will contribute as a positive force  for your city.  For example, do you have prior accomplishments related to being an office-holder? Is your professional background suited especially?
I am running for Mayor of Center City.  With past experience as Mayor I will  continue to support the residents of Center City to maintain good services and to continue to keep expenses down.

I was Mayor for 4 years and learned what it takes to run a city. I am currently on the City Council,  EDA, Center City Planning commission since 2001, Historical Preservation, Friends of the Parks.   I represented the city on the East Central Regional Development Commission while being Mayor.

I have attended the Blandin Foundation Leadership Program. League of Mn Cities conferences. FEMA management program.   These have given me great knowledge of what it takes to run a city and to prepare for a better future for the city.  I retired after 40 years being a 911 Dispatcher for Chisago County Sheriff.  This job gave me the opportunity to work with all the different  agencies in the county, cities and townships, police, fire and emergency services.

QUESTION #2
If you had to name one thing holding your community back, keeping it from being the best place to live ever, what is that and what do you want to do about it?
Keep the city updated.  By maintaining services like roads, sewer and water, city equipment,  parks and technology, it will help us keep costs down to the residents of the city.  If we do not maintain these the costs will be greater to repair or update when they do break or need repair.   I will work for the residents of Center City to make it an attractive place to live, work and to raise a family.

Thank you for your consideration and I ask for your vote on November 3 or absentee!

QUESTION #1
Start your response by informing readers which seat you are running for.  Describe what you specifically will contribute as a positive force  for your city.  For example, do you have prior accomplishments related to being an office-holder? Is your professional background suited especially?
My name is Ethan Karwand and I am running for Mayor of Center City. As mayor my primary goal would be to place the city on a future focused footing to meet the many challenges that will arise in the next few years. This focus on the future would include planning on growing the city to access more tax revenues from the state, increasing regional cooperation to better provide services and benefits to the citizens of Center City, more aggressively courting businesses to locate within the city, and seeking out grants and awards to improve and expand the parks and trails in the city. As a trained teacher I believe I am well qualified to guide the city in the creation and execution of these plans. I will also seek to create community buy-in with these plans and preserve the current character of the city while expanding into the future.

QUESTION #2
If you had to name one thing holding your community back, keeping it from being the best place to live ever, what is that and what do you want to do about it?
I believe that one of the main issues holding back Center City is the lack of focus on the future which hobbles the city when new challenges and opportunities arrive. As I said previously, my goal as mayor would be to develop the plans and political will on the council to help the city focus on the future and overcoming challenges to help the city grow and prosper.
