Minnesota House of Represenatives - District 28A Brian Johnson Representative Brian Johnson is seeking election in newly drawn Minnesota House District 28A which includes most of Isanti County and western Chisago County.
Brian was a farm kid, growing up on his parents’ dairy farm in Springvale Township. His adult life has been spent in law enforcement, beginning with nine years in the Braham Police Department and continuing as a Deputy Sheriff in Isanti County for 18 years. Brian and his wife, Diane, live near Cambridge with their son.
Living his entire life in our community, Brian has learned the importance of hard work, common sense and a strong moral compass. These values have been the foundation of his life, as a family man, a law enforcement officer and as our representative in St. Paul. He proudly serves us as the Minority Lead of the House Public Safety and Criminal Justice Reform Finance and Policy Committee. He also serves on the House Ways and Means and the House Judiciary Finance and Civil Law Committees. Brian has previously served as the Chairman of the House Public Safety Committee.
We need strong leadership in St. Paul from people who have “walked the walk”, not just “talked the talk”. As a House member and Committee Lead, Brian has represented us well by fighting for lower taxes, smaller government and the needs of our community.
Serving as our Representative, Brian voted 19 times to end Governor Walz’s Emergency Powers (to reopen our small businesses and schools.) Brian fought to protect our data privacy and our Second Amendment rights. He led the fight to keep dangerous sex offenders from being housed near our parks and schools. Public safety is a top priority for Brian. He supports our men and women in law enforcement and he is working to make sure that violent criminals are held accountable and kept off of our streets.
Brian is concerned about the high price of fuel and groceries; he shares your concerns about state spending, fraud in our state social programs and endlessly higher state taxes. He looks forward to fighting for our shared values and our way of life.
Erik Johnson Isanti County resident Erik Johnson filed to begin his candidacy to represent District 28A in the Minnesota House of Representatives. He is the Minnesota DFL candidate running for the seat currently held by Representative Brian Johnson.
Erik, a North Branch High School graduate, attended college at Saint Cloud State University. He transferred to the Minnesota School of Business and graduated with an AAS in Advertising Design. He expanded his education with a Business Writing Certificate from the University of Minnesota in recent years.
An advocate for community involvement, Erik has volunteered for organizations including; Feed My Starving Children, Reading & Math, and Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota. He has also been involved with animal rescue organizations, including being foster parents to dogs waiting for their forever homes.
Johnson has spent his career in Advertising & Marketing, where he has worked with clients ranging from small local businesses to large international companies. Despite not running for political office before, he sees parallels between his experience and politics. “Listening to what people have to say is essential…. What matters to them? Are their needs being met? Why should they trust you? All of it must be factored into your decision-making process.” Erik expanded on that, “You need to listen to other viewpoints and constructive criticism with an open mind. That’s how people with differing opinions can find tough solutions.”
The opportunity of potentially serving as an elected representative of the district isn’t taken for granted. “The people of our community are collectively hard-working, blue-collar citizens who simply want our voices heard and accurately represented,” Johnson said. “Every person. Every vote. They all matter; whether I earn your vote or not, I will do everything to ensure our district’s voice is heard loud and clear.”
Erik resides in Cambridge with his wife Erin, their daughter Beatrice, and their two dogs. In their free time, they enjoy being on the water, perfecting their skills on the grill, and exploring the area’s offerings. Minnesota House of Representatives - District 28B Katie Malchow Hello! I’m Katie Malchow and I’m running to be your next Minnesota State Legislator in District 28B.
My husband and I have called the Chisago Lakes area home since 2005. We moved here to build our lives among the fresh air, beautiful lakes, and smaller towns. We have grown deep roots, made invaluable friendships, and given our three children a solid foundation to build their lives upon. We are proud of the life we’ve built here and we aim to support our community in any way that we can.
This will be my second election running for the House and I am looking forward to the opportunity to represent all of you in St. Paul. At the conclusion of the 2020 election, I had two thoughts run through my head immediately. One was that I was so proud of the campaign we had run and so grateful to all of you who supported and bolstered the campaign. The other thought was “I’m not done!” There are many issues swirling our news these days that impact our way of life. Our schools continue to be underfunded, our broadband continues to lack universality, our small businesses continue to face unique challenges, and Highway 8 continues to be the most dangerous highway in Minnesota. These issues along with others are why I chose to run again.
I am a dedicated community activist and I want to lend my talents to improving and protecting the lives we have all built together as a community. I look forward to talking with you, listening to your concerns and celebrating your successes. It truly is an honor to be your neighbor and I hope to earn your support, your vote, and become your next state representative! malchow4mn.com
Anne Neu Brindley It is an honor to be the Republican-endorsed candidate for the new District 28B, and I hope to earn your vote in November. It would be a privilege to continue serving our community as Republicans unify to bring historic change to Minnesota.
When Republicans take control next year, I am ready to lead and deliver meaningful changes for our state. As families face record prices for gas, grocery, and energy bills, I will make sure that we deliver the largest tax cut in Minnesota's history. Crime is skyrocketing across our state. I will support law enforcement to ensure they have the resources they need to keep our communities safe, and I will work to make certain criminals are held accountable. I will always stand up to protect life and preserve your Second Amendment rights.
I am an avid supporter of the Boy Scouts and have served on the North Branch Planning Commission. I’ve also served as Vice President of Minnesota Excellence in Public Service Series, which provides leadership training to conservative women so they can fulfill leadership roles in their careers, communities, and government.
You can contact me at email@example.com or call me at 763-742-9961 to learn more about me or my campaign. I look forward to seeing you all this campaign season!
State Senate District 28 Mark Koran I am Senator Mark Koran and have been blessed to serve senate district 32, now seeking re-election for the new District 28 (Isanti & Chisago). I have been married to my wife Cindy for 39 years. We have three boys and six grandchildren, with one on the way.
When I originally ran, I was concerned with burdensome government and its effect on our future. I strongly believe that Government reform is necessary for every aspect and agency. This is especially important for those with the greatest needs, our children, disabled and elderly. Today, more than ever, we count on our government to perform the necessary tasks assigned to them, while being transparent and fiscally responsible.
I bring my proven and unique perspective to the State Senate. I have always worked in the private sector and in addition, spent just under 18 years at the MN Department of Revenue, which provided a priceless education for this role in the Senate. My experience and background have proven to be highly valuable as we work to redesign how government services are delivered and to build in the accountability to our citizens which does not naturally exist. I look forward to continuing to work towards a safer, more secure Minnesota with less government intrusion, less spending, lower taxes and more transparency.
My previous experience has led me to leadership roles in the Senate, where I can be most impactful on Government oversight, Technology, Cyber Security, Waste and Fraud.
I would be honored to have your support on November 8, 2022.
