Allen Everett Ekstrom

Allen Everett Ekstrom, prominent successful North Branch farmer, was born to Albert and Emmy (Johnson) Ekstrom on the family farm south of North Branch on March 18, 1925.  He passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018 at Fairview Lakes Regional Medical Center, in Wyoming, MN at age 92.

At the age of 12 he was already helping his dad do custom combining at many Chisago and Isanti County farms. Allen was one of the first farmers to invest in a combine.  Today there are many housing developments in those fields he worked.  Later on he worked at several businesses including  building and delivering fire trucks with General Safety, but farming was his passion and continued until he was 88 years old.

Allen served as treasurer of Branch City Council, served on the Soil and Water Conservation District Board, the Farm Service Agency and Trinity Lutheran Church council where he was a lifetime member. He married Irma Magnison at the Little Brown Church on May 3, 1952.  The lived “next door” to the farm where he grew up and where they raised their three children; Jon, Lori and Jane.

Allen is survived by his wife Irma, son Jon; daughters Lori Richardson and Jane (Robert) Barnett; four grandsons, Janson and Jacob Richardson and Andrew and Daniel Barnett; two great grandsons, Jayvyn Richardson and Bentley Richardson; brother Leon Ekstrom; three godsons, Daryl Mannausau, Howard Nelson and Drew Ekstrom as well as several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and sisters; Linnea Mannausau, Alma Waller and Alpha Ekstrom.

Memorial services at 2 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in North Branch with Rev. Tom Nielsen officiating.  Music will be provided by LaDonna Olson and Jon Ekstrom.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, at church, on Friday.  Private family interment will take place at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, in North Branch.

In lieu of flowers memorials preferred.

Arrangements are under the direction and care of Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch.  Condolences maybe expressed online at www.grandstrandfh.com
