Bonita (Bonnie) Katherine DeClercq passed away peacefully on September 16th in Chisago City, MN. She was 77.
Bonnie was born March 21, 1941 in Garrison, North Dakota. She received her teaching degree from the University of Minnesota and began her teaching career as a science teacher in Lindstrom, MN. Over the next 30 years, Bonnie continued to teach and eventually became the curriculum coordinator for Chisago Lakes School District. Many in the community will remember her as their junior high science teacher.
Since retiring from teaching, Bonnie filled her days by volunteering in the community. She was active in local politics, was a member of Wild River Audubon, the Center City Parks Committee, and the Friends of the Library. She volunteered at her church, delivered Meals on Wheels, and taught literacy skills to adults learning to read. She enjoyed gardening and birding, walking and coffee dates with her friends, and Red Hat Society outings. She was a dear friend to many, a patient and loving mother, grandmother and wife. She will be missed tremendously.
Bonnie is preceded in death by her husband, Dayle.
Bonnie is survived by daughters Jolane, Kimberly, Kaisa and Monica; siblings Georgia and Roger; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial Service is 11 a.m. Monday, September 24, 2018 at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City. Visitation one hour prior to the service at church.
