Roger E. Erickson, age 95 of Center City passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Fairview Lakes Regional Medical Center, in Wyoming, MN.
Roger was born on August 2, 1923 in Lindstrom to parents, Henphen and Florence (Hemquist) Erickson. He attended a one room rural school until the eighth grade and then went to Chi Hi and graduated in 1941. He married Julia Dufault on April 3, 1943 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lindstrom. Roger worked for Northwest Airlines after high school before entering the U.S. Air Force in April of 1943. He served his country until his discharge February 2, 1946.
His return from military duty found him working as a draftsman for American Television and Radio, Honeywell and eventually Telex Company for 13 years designing hearing aids. He was a draftsman and eventually became a manager for UFE which later became KROY and eventually St. Croix Plastics. He became vice president of manufacturing and remained in that position until his retirement in 1982. Roger enjoyed his retirement years collecting coins and stamps and spending time with family.
Roger is survived by his daughter Barb Dowell of Lindstrom and son Wayne Erickson of Center City; brothers Kenneth Erickson of Lauderdale, Dwight (Laurine) Erickson of White Bear Lake and Ron (Pat) Erickson of Slayton. He is preceded in death by his parents Henphin and Florence Erickson, wife Julia on November 16, 2008 and his son, Larry on August 1, 2009.
Funeral services 11 a.m. Monday, January 28, 2019 at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City with Rev. Taryn Montgomery officiating. Visitation one hour prior to the service at church on Monday. Interment at Hillside Cemetery in Center City with military honors provided by Chisago Lakes VFW Honor Squad.
