Steven Eugene Linnell, age 73 of Shafer, died Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents Gilbert and Opal; three brothers, Toby, Chuck, and Donny; and three sisters, Marlene, Beatrice, and Gloria.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Jenny Linnell; son Kevin (Anita) Linnell; daughter Tracy Rasmussen; six grandchildren, Kody (fiancé, Chris Smith) Hibbard, Zach Linnell, Kya Linnell, Nicholas Rasmussen, Joshua Rasmussen, and Charlie Kirchner; two sisters, Mary (Tom) Miller and Kathy Gilbertson; also many nieces, nephews, and his precious canine companion, Daisy.
Steve was born March 7, 1946, in St. Croix Falls, WI to Gilbert and Opal (Olsen) Linnell. He was a graduate of Taylors Falls High School. Steve served his country in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War from 1965 until 1971. He was united in marriage to Jenny Hughes on November 1, 1969, in Center City. Following his military service, Steve attended two years of vocational school. He was employed in concrete work before joining Pacal Industries in Roseville for 15 years. Steve later became a cheesemaker with F & A Dairy. He enjoyed sports, especially the MN Vikings, and also dancing, playing cards, and duck and deer hunting.
A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery in Center City. Visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Grandstrand Funeral Home handled the arrangements
