Dorothy Phyllis Marjorie (Freed) Berglund was born October 14, 1921 to Emil and Alma Freed of Palmdale, Minnesota. She passed away peacefully on June 11, 2019 at The Christian Community Home in Osceola, Wisconsin.
She spent her entire life in the Chisago Lakes Area. She married the love of her life, Glenden Berglund, on June 21, 1941 at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church where she was a lifelong member. They were married for 64 years, at the time of Glen’s passing in November 2005.
After her marriage they ran Berglund’s Hatchery together for 25 years. They retired from the chicken business in 1966. Glen and Dorothy then built Lakeshore Terrace Mobile Home Park. In 1978 they retired and wintered in Mission, Texas for 21 years. They loved to travel and had many wonderful adventures together. Dorothy loved garage sales and could be seen at many local venues beginning in the 1960’s. Dorothy and her best friend had many garage sales together. They were well known all over the area for these semi-annual sales. They had consignment garage sales before it was popular. She enjoyed travel, playing cards, friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Glenden; parents Emil and Alma Freed; an infant daughter; sisters Harriette Lindstrom and Marion Sorenson; brother John Freed and grandson Ryan Roush.
She is survived by son Gary (Nancy) Berglund; daughters LeAnn (Steve) Lewis and Sharon (Doug) Roush; nine grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2019 at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City, MN. Visitation one hour prior to the service at church.
