Hilde Miller

Hilde Strapko Miller, age 75, of Lindstrom, MN passed away peacefully at home March 23, after a brave battle with ovarian cancer.

Hilde was born on September 24 in Pancevo, Yugoslavia. She grew up in Balingen, Germany and graduated nursing school in Karlsruhe in 1966. She met her husband James Miller, who was stationed in Karlsruhe, and they were married November 20, 1970. Hilde came to the United States with Jim in 1971 where they resided in Circle Pines. Hilde attended Anoka Community College to become an LPN, as her German nursing education was not accepted in the United States.

Hilde and Jim moved to Lindstrom in 1976 where she resided until her death. Hilde proudly became a US citizen in 1981. She enjoyed her career as a nurse, and worked at the Chisago Lakes Hospital, then spent the majority of her nursing career working at Parmly, Green Acres and then retired from The Villages of North Branch, in 2011. Hilde loved gardening, casino trips with her girlfriends and of course spending time with her two grandkids. After her retirement, she enjoyed spending winters in Florida and traveling around Europe with Jim.

Hilde is survived by her husband Jim; two children Gabrielle Menne and Michael, and her two grandkids, Alexander and Helen Menne; brother Jacob (Katherine) Strapko of Balingen, Germany and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Michael and Johanna Strapko and her brother Michael.
A private family gravesite service will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
