He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be forever missed by all. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran, Taylors Falls, MN. He went to the Jerico school until the seventh grade when Jerico merged with Taylors Falls, where he liked to make furniture in the shop. He graduated from high school in 1941. After graduation he worked for Charlie Klinke, who was a neighbor hurt in a run-away with a horse and wagon. That winter, he worked at the Triple Glen guernsey farm. His next jobs were working on the Weslander farm and driving a canned milk truck for Rivards’ creamery in Taylors Falls. He married Dorothy in 1945 and they farmed near Palmdale where they raised five children. After Winton and Dorothy retired, they worked a number of years for Vande Kamp Auctioneering.
He was very kind and generous to people. He drove friends to church that were not able to drive themselves. After his wife died, he continued to help the quilters by cutting many blocks of patterns which the quilters had a hard time to keep up with. He was very proud of his family, always taking part in his children’s school projects as well as his grandchildrens.
Winton was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Weslander; his parents Oscar and Edith Weslander; and his sister Vivian Rowe.
He is survived by his children, Duane (Barbara) Weslander; Allen (Maureen) Weslander; Joyce Sellman; Mark (Cynthia) Weslander and Colleen (Bradley) Hutchison; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
