Charles Erickson

Charles Allen Erickson, age 88, of Lindstrom, MN, passed peacefully Saturday, February 6, 2021.  He was the eldest of three siblings; born on March 1, 1932 in Fergus Falls, MN to Carl and Evangeline Erickson of Brandon, MN. Charles grew up in Brandon and graduated with a class of 20 students from Brandon High School in 1950.  He enjoyed playing basketball and baseball; and pitched on the championship Brandon Resorter League baseball team.

After high school, he attended college at the University of Minnesota.  During that time, he left school to serve in the Navy for three years, while saving money for college.  After the Navy, he returned to the University of Minnesota two more years to finish his major degree in Chemistry, but his Mathematics minor was what lead to his more than 30 year career as a high school math teacher, in St. Peter, MN and at Chisago Lakes High School.

Charles married Donna Jean Niles of Minneapolis, MN on December 16, 1959.  Together they had three children:  Mark (Becky) of Chisago City, MN, Carla (Jerry) Greene of Shafer, MN, and Thomas (Judy) of Fargo, ND.

After being widowed, he married Sandra (Sandy) Walline of Minneapolis, on November of 2002. He is survived by his wife, Sandy; his three children; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two step-children, and two step-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Donna, his sister Sylvia and brother John, and infant great granddaughter Emma.

He was a vintage tractor enthusiast for many years and enjoyed sharing stories of  the time he spent with his uncles helping to farm on the family homestead in Garfield, MN, which was homesteaded in 1870.  He was a founding member of the Almelund Threshing Company and served as treasurer for over 20 years.  He looked forward to the yearly Threshing show, doing demonstrations with his threshing machines and vintage tractors.
