Isabelle Marie (Continenza) Stein passed away peacefully on February 18, 2021 surrounded by family. Her legacy exists in the shared memories of the playful songs she sang, the cheerfulness of her demeanor and the warm Italian expressions of love and affection that she bestowed on so many. Now that Isabelle has been reunited with her Joe, heaven just got even sweeter.
Isabelle Marie was born on July 1, 1927 to Joseph and Mary Continenza in St. Paul. She grew up next door to her best friend, Joey Stein. She attended St. Joseph’s Academy, and then graduated from the College of St. Catherine with degrees in education, art, and music. In June 1950, Isabelle and Joe were united in marriage. They started their first home in St. Paul, MN. They welcomed eight children into the family. The family spent summers on Big Marine Lake, in Scandia. The family moved to Taylors Falls in 1970. Isabelle enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, and was an accomplished pianist. She was a volunteer at St. Croix Regional Hospital for many years.
As empty nesters, Isabelle and Joe traveled extensively and wintered in Greenfield, Mesa AZ. They thoroughly enjoyed playing tennis. Isabelle moved, to Parmly on the Lake in Chisago City, as more care was needed. We wish to thank the staff of Parmly and Ecumen Hospice for the compassionate care they provided.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Joseph J. Stein; parents Joseph and Mary Continenza; sister Sylvia Rossi; daughter-in-law Judy Ryan Stein, and grandsons James D. Stein and Corey Corradi.
She is survived by her children: Joe (Ruth), Mary Beth, Jim (Deb), Kathy (Lowell) Lindo, Tom, Mike (Ruthann), Margaret (Bruce) Corradi and Eileen Theisen (Steve Sauer), 23 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. The family now numbers 85, which she was very proud of.
A private family Mass of Christian Burial was Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Franconia Township. Interment at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
A Celebration of life will be held later this summer on August 1, 2021. Memorials are preferred to St. Joseph Catholic Church of Taylors Falls. Arrangements by Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom, MN. Condolences may be expressed online at www.grandstrand
