Lois Marie (Medin) Berglund, age 87, of Maple Plain, Minnesota, formerly of Lindstrom, Minnesota, died Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Haven Homes of Maple Plain.Lois was born at home north of Center City on December 22, 1933. She was the daughter of Ansgaard and Adelaide (Grandstrand) Medin and the second of four children.
Lois graduated from Lindstrom-Center City High School in 1951. She then worked at Marshall McLennon as a secretary for one year to earn money for Nursing School. She attended Gustavus Adolphus College for her general education classes from September 1952-January 1953. She then attended Bethesda School of Nursing from February 1952-September 1955. After graduation she worked at Bethesda Hospital before heading out to California with fellow classmates to work at San Diego County Hospital from January 1956-April 1957.
She met her future husband Darwin Berglund on a blind date arrangement by her good friend Bernice Medin and Bernice’s husband Roger, on a visit back home. They were wed June 23, 1957 at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church and were married for 60 years. The majority of their marriage they lived in Lindstrom from (1964-2016). Lois worked as a registered nurse mainly at St. Croix Regional Medical Center. Lois enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and talking. She also enjoyed reading and walking. Once retired, they spend half the year in Lake Wales, Florida and half in Lindstrom. They also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Panama Canal, and Lois went with friends to Sweden.
Lois is survived by her son Darrel (Marcia Straub), daughter Cherol (Michael) Young; grandson Steven Young, sister Linda Lindgren, sisters-in-law Fran Medin, Delores Medin, and Lillian Berglund, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Lowell Medin and Lyle Medin, and infant sons Mark and David.

Funeral service 2 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City. Visitation one hour prior to the service at Church. Interment at Hillside Cemetery in Center City.
