Gregory Stage

Gregory Michael Stage, 67, of Lindstrom, Minnesota passed away Friday, June 18, 2021 doing what he loved.

Greg was born October 12, 1953, in St. Paul Minnesota, to Joe and Betty Stage. He was one of five children. He was full of life growing up in the midway; there was no shortage of things to do. He attended St. Columba Grade school, Wilson Junior High and graduated from Murry High School in 1971.

After High School he joined the Navy right alongside his oldest brother Christopher. Greg served the Navy and his country for four years as a Navy Corpsman from 1973 through 1977 on the USS Trenton.

In 1985 he married the love of his life, Shelly and they settled down in a small apartment in St. Paul. In 1986, they moved to Lino Lakes, MN where they began to raise their three children. In May of 2000, the family moved and set roots in the small town of Lindstrom, Minnesota. This is where ice fishing became a favorite pastime for him with his family and friends. If Greg wasn’t home, check the “shack” during the winter months.

Greg worked for 30-plus years as a Pharmacy Technician with the University of Minnesota / Fairview hospital. He loved his job and his work family. He touched so many lives during his Tenure there and made lifelong friends.

On April 1, 2020, Greg reached the ultimate goal in life and finally retired. His famous mantra “I’m retired, I do what I want,” was something he never got tired of saying and truly lived by. He lived retirement to its fullest; fishing, riding his motorcycle, watching his grandkids grow up and going to the lake.

In 2020 the family purchased private property on Trego Lake, in Trego, WI.  Greg spent every moment there with, Shelly, his kids, and grandkids. He spent his time fishing, ATV riding, and “working at the lake” as he called it. He made that place his home away from home.

Greg is survived by his wife Shelly of 36 years. His three children; Joe and Stephanie Stage with their two children, Isaac and Pearl Stage (St. Croix Falls, WI). Brett and Kyle Rivard with their two children, Violet and Patrick Rivard (Taylors Falls, MN). Jack Stage and Sam Martin (Taylors Falls, MN) with their family dog Lola, his siblings Patricia Brown and Thomas Brown (deceased) (Stillwater, MN), Jeanine and Lee Davidson (St. Paul, MN), Christopher Stage (Embarrass, MN), Mark and Gayle Stage (Roseville, MN), with many nieces, nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

Greg is preceded in death by his parents Joseph Stage and Elizabeth (Betty) Stage.

A Celebration of Life to honor Greg Stage will be from 3-7 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Grandstrand Funeral Home, 11900 Lake Lane, Lindstrom, Minnesota, 55045.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests any memorial contributions be sent to 31723 Newport Curve, Lindstrom, MN 55045.  Arrangements by Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom.  Condolences may be expressed online at www.grandstrandfh.com
