James D. Donahue, age 79, of Lindstrom, passed away on Friday, June 25, 2021 at Parmly on the Lake TCU in Chisago City.
James is the son of Bernard and Margaret (Uetz) Donahue born on February 15, 1942 in Minneapolis, where he was raised and graduated from Bloomington High School. He then attended University of Minnesota and later served in the U.S. Army in Okinawa. James worked for Chisago County as a deputy sheriff for 25 years and retired but went back to work as a bailiff for several years.
James enjoyed being a grandpa and great grandpa. He enjoyed going to Cass Lake fishing lodge for a week in May with his brothers, and Jack their best friend, for 50 years.
He is survived by his daughter Erin Donahue Hamilton; granddaughters Dianne and Summer Hamilton and by his brothers John (Nancy) Donahue, Jerry (Leigh) Donahue, nephews and niece, and great nephews and great grandkids. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife Dianne Donahue.
Funeral services will take place at noon Friday, July 9, 2021 at Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home on Friday, July 9. Interment will take place at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
