George Alan Cable, Lindstrom, passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2021.
Born in St. Paul, April 18, 1929 to Robert and Agnes (Preston) Cable. The family moved to Lower Lasalle Lake in Hubbard County as a way to survive The Depression when he was three years old. He attended a one room school through 6th grade. The family returned to St. Paul where he attended Jefferson grade school and Monroe High School, but graduated from Moses Lake, Washington, while being a pastoral assistant there.
To prepare for pastoral ministry, George enrolled in Northwestern Bible College where his diploma was signed by then president Billy Graham. Cable then accepted a call to Bethel Baptist Church of Camp Douglas, WI in 1951. It was there he met and married Romelle Faulkner in 1952. George spent 25 years in Wisconsin, most of which in church-planting of 14 churches. For this and the mentoring several men into the ministry and missions, he was later awarded an honorary Doctorate of Divinity by Pillsbury Baptist Bible College, Owatonna. He returned to Minnesota in 1976 to pastor Chisago Lakes Baptist Church and school for 21 years. After a temporary retirement after heart surgery, he then agreed to pastor Sunrise Bible Church of rural North Branch area for 13 years. He also spoke in many states as a conference speaker. He finally retired in 2011-after 60 years.
George was preceded in death by his parents, his step father James Mullin, his sisters Norma (Norman Moehler, John Hildebrand) and Beverly (Doyle) Aultman, and nephew Michael Moehler.
He is survived by his wife Romelle, daughter Amy Jo (Jerry) Shuster, son Kenneth (Maureen “Rene”) , grandson Jeffrey (Krystal), granddaughters Kristie (Ryan) McNamara, Jennifer and Elizabeth Shuster, great-grandsons Michael and Griffin Cable, and Keegan McNamara, and great-granddaughter Kenlly Cable.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Chisago Lakes Baptist Church with visitation one hour prior to the service at church.
