Maynard Sellman was born May 1, 1930 to Anfrid and Emma C. Swenson Sellman in Taylors Falls, Minnesota. He grew up in Shafer, where his schooling years were also. He enjoyed traveling with his parents to Florida, to escape the Minnesota winters. He also enjoyed square dancing, where he met his future bride Helen Jansen. He was baptized, confirmed, and married at Taylors Falls Lutheran Church.
On September 6, 1958 he married Helen M. Jansen. They had 63 wonderful years together. He was a dairy and crop farmer for years. He farmed his place and his grandparents’. When he sold the cattle, he continued to crop farm and started working at the feed mills in Osceola, Wisconsin and Chisago City, Minnesota. When he retired from farming he rented his land out to other farmers.
When he retired from the feed mill, he enjoyed feeding the deer in his back yard and going to coffee groups in Shafer and Center City, and spending time with Helen. He loved the Minnesota Twins, always enjoyed their games. He was a wonderful man, he was an easy going hard worker, with a great sense of humor. We were very blessed to have him in our family!
He is preceded in death by his parents Anfrid and Emma Sellman; maternal grandparents Matt and Louise Swenson; paternal grandparents C. Victor and Anette Sellman.
