Nancy Grace Oyen, 75, of Scottsdale, AZ, entered into her rest on November 21, 2021, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
She was born August 30, 1946 in Elizabeth, NJ. She grew up the youngest of three children in Yankton, SD.
In 1968, Nancy started her career as an English, Choir, and gifted education teacher in Lindstrom, MN. While teaching in Minnesota she met Bruce Oyen and they married July 26, 1970. Nancy's commitment to continuous education, later translated into graduating from Hamline Law School in 1987.
She started her second career practicing law at Beus Gilbert Firm in Phoenix. From 1992-2004, she served as the Director of Legal Services for the Phoenix Union School District. Nancy ended her career as the Unit Chief of Education at the Arizona State Attorney General's Office from 2004-2008.
Nancy's real passion and love was for her family. She could often be found playing the piano in the living room, singing to her grandchildren or laughing with her boys. Nancy enjoyed being a part of the church choir, traveling the world and organizing her massive shoe collection.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Bruce Oyen; two children, Derek Oyen (Dominique), Drew Oyen (Tracy); and five grandchildren; Carter, Savannah, Brody, Talon, and Jaxon as well as her sister Celia Miner and families.
She was preceded in death by her parents Stan and Blanche Fritts, brother Tom Fritts and granddaughter Brynja Oyen.
A celebration of life will be held January 22, 2022 at 10 am. La Casa De La Christo Lutheran Church 6300 E. Bell Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85254. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Arizona Alzheimer's Association would be greatly appreciated act.alz.org/donate.
