Joseph H. Lunsford, age 85, of Stacy, formerly of Ohio, entered his eternal rest on Sunday, March 27, 2022.

Joseph was born on May 21, 1936 in Covington County Alabama to J.C. and Lettie V. Lunsford. He graduated from Chumuckla High School in 1954 where he played center for the boys’ basketball team for two trips to state tournaments. He attended Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky and Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama where he earned his BS degree. He then taught 7th grade subjects in Botkins, Ohio for three years before moving to the St. Mary’s school system teaching math and drivers training for the rest of his career. Joseph also served as interim pastor in Methodist and Friends Churches in Alabama and Ohio.  He loved woodworking and traveling. The family travelled and camped in all 50 states including Alaska and Hawaii.  He has also travelled to several foreign countries including Antarctica.

Joseph married Barbara Lehman Lunsford on June 5, 1956 and they had four children; Duane, Sherri, Wayne and Rebecca; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  He is survived by brothers; Ralph, Virgil, Ferren and Waylan Lunsford and sister Nell Porter.

Having had a 14 year illness, he is now full of joy with Jesus, family and other acquaintances.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2022 at Faith Baptist Church, in Stacy.   A time of fellowship will be held immediately after the service. A second service will be held on May 9, 2022 in Ohio.
