Brian Olson

Brian Olson of Center City, Minnesota passed away at his home on April 17, 2022. Ocular melanoma had spread to his liver.

Brian was born in Rush City on June 27, 1952 to Harold and Harriet Olson of Center City. He worked on their family dairy farm until his graduation from Chisago Lakes High School in 1970.  He was drafted into the Army in 1972 soon after attending Dunwoody Institute for HVAC.  In 1975 he married Michelle Sorenson and they had a son, Jeremy.  Brian was working for Wally Carlson at this time and ultimately bought the heating business from Wally and started Olson’s Heating and AC.  He retired from this in 2014, but vowed to keep the beer cold in Burnett County for several more years.

He joined the Center City Fire Department in 1982 and served for 25 years.  He served as the Chief for 13 of those years. In 1992 he started dating Dorothy Gustafson of Taylors Falls.  Rumor has it he won the right to ask her out on a date, from her brother Harold, in a cribbage game.  They married in 1999, and he became a proud step father to Marty and Nikki Gustafson.   Brian and Dorothy enjoyed snowmobiling, motorcycle riding and road trips.  They also heard the call to Wisconsin as did many other of their friends. Webster, Wisconsin became 'Lindstrom North'.  In 1995 they bought land and then began construction on their second home in 2001. For the last several years they have enjoyed spending their winters in South Padre, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his father Harold and mother Harriet. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, brother Bruce and his wife Deb, son Jeremy and partner Anna, step children Marty and Nikki, nephews Tom and Kris, and niece Kari.

Funeral Service 11 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2022 at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City, Minnesota.  Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom, Minnesota and one hour prior to the service at church.  A private family interment will take place at a later date.  Condolences may be expressed online at www.grandstrandfh.com.
