June Church Rose

June Church Rose, age 82, of Burnsville, MN; formerly York, England; Shafer, MN and Puerto Penasco, Mexico passed away December 20, 2021 at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN.

June was born in York, England. She met her American husband when he was in the Air Force and stationed in England. They were married in Acomb, York England in 1959. They moved up to Minnesota when Harvey was discharged.  Harvey passed away in 1979 in a tragic Highway 8 accident. June worked for WCCO selling time on the radio with Wolfman Jack as her boss. Her dream was to be a DJ  but women were not allowed at that time. Later she became her own DJ in a way via the CB radio and was known as the Gardenia.

Most of her adult life was on her hobby farm in Shafer, MN. June had several jobs in the area including a bartender at the Crossroads, Swedish Inn (where she was known as “the limey”), Conestoga, China Panda, Castlewood Golf Course and Hazelden. Later, June dated Donald Rose for several years and they married in 2001 via Elvis in Las Vegas. In 2014, they sold the farm and moved to Mexico. After four years in Mexico, June and her chihuahua dog, Brandy moved back to Minnesota to live with her daughter, Jane, as her health was starting to fail. June and Brandy passed away two days apart from each other. June loved to read, garden, cook, good English tea and food, dance, watch movies, knit and be with her family. June had lots of stories growing up in England and being a child during World War II. She had a great British humor to her with a voice loved by all.

Survived by her daughters, Jane Maloney and Susan Folsom; grandchildren: Edward Maloney, Jennifer Maloney and Steven Folsom.

Memorial Service at Kahbakong Cemetery, Taylors Falls, MN June 18, 2022 at 11AM. Luncheon following the service in Osceola, WI.
