John E. “Jack” Marxer, age 82, of Shafer, Minnesota, formerly of Center City and St. Paul, Minnesota, died on August 27, 2022.
Jack was born in St. Paul, Minnesota to Edward and Theresa Marxer. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Theresa (Terry) Heitzig and brother Richard (Dick) Marxer.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Sandra; children Julie (Jason Vlasak) Berens of Princeton, MN, Nancee (Steve) Emmerich of Athens, WI, and James (Jodi) Marxer of Finland, MN; 16 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; brothers Joe Marxer of Inver Grove Heights, MN, and Mike (Cookie) Marxer of Hackensack, MN.
Jack graduated from Johnson High School in 1958. Jack married the love of his life, Sandy, in 1963 and moved to Eagan. In 1973 they built their house in Center City on North Center Lake. In 2004 they moved to Shafer. Jack was a truck driver and later warehouse foreman for Fruit Distributor, Inc. He was a 20 year member of the Center City Fire Department, serving 8 years as Chief. He also served on the St. Bridget of Sweden Church Council and Center City Planning Committee. Jack loved to spend time with his wife and living on North Center Lake where he enjoyed fishing with his dad and brothers and doing yard work. He also enjoyed all his grandchildren and his great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at St. Bridget of Sweden Catholic Church in Lindstrom, MN. Visitation 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 30 at Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom and one hour prior to mass at church. Interment at Hillside Cemetery in Center City, MN.
