Mark Allen

Mark Douglas Allen, a longtime resident of Lindstrom, Minnesota passed away on July 31, 2022, in Canete, Peru. He died peacefully with a smile on his face while serving the Lord Jesus Christ in the mission field.

Mark was born on September 30, 1954, at the Fort Campbell Army base hospital in Kentucky to Paul and Marcia Allen, where Paul was stationed. After his father’s discharge, they moved back to St. Paul, MN where Mark was raised. He graduated from Highland Park Highschool in St. Paul. Mark started his career as a paramedic after high school and soon met his wife, Christine. They were married November 5, 1977. Mark and Chris moved to Lindstrom, MN in 1980 and raised four boys; Ira, Milo, Elijah and Zacharia. The highlight of his life was raising his four boys.

Mark had a long career working in paramedicine and then management for Allina Health for 30 years. In December 1983, Mark became a born again Christian and started his faith walk with Jesus Christ. This was his passion for the remainder of his life. Mark went on his first mission trip with Kost Evangelical Free Church to Lublin, Poland in 1994. After that Mark and Chris and their sons got involved in missions and took several mission trips outside of the country. This became Mark’s full time work when God put a drive within him to serve in the mission field in 2006. Mark worked for many years to become an ordained pastor through the Evangelical Free Church of America. This gave him credibility as he started the ministry of Chaplain Ministries International, which worked to bring the gospel to people in second and third world countries through emergency services. He spent the remainder of his life training and equipping pastors to minister to people in those services (fire, police, paramedics).

Mark became sick with throat cancer in 2008. He recovered from cancer but years later, lost his ability to eat and speak due to radiation treatment. Through the years he never allowed this to stop his ministry. Many people were encouraged through his tenacity to continue to serve the Lord even with difficulties. This was an encouragement especially in other countries during his mission work.

Mark enjoyed fishing, woodworking and spending time with his sons and friends on the lake. He took great joy in his 12 grandchildren and loved watching them grow. He had four sons but loved the four daughters that the Lord gave him when his sons married as well. He leaves a legacy of living a full life for Jesus.

Mark is survived by his wife of 44 years, Christine Allen; his mother Marcia Allen, sisters Barb Allen and Paula (Greg) Merth; his sons Ira (Heidi) Allen of Chisago City, Milo (Kelly) Allen of Sartell, Elijah (Teresa) Allen of Grand Rapids, and Zacharia (Megan) Allen of Cedar;12 grandchildren Peyton, Carter, Oliver, Henry, Grace, Emily, Marshall, Milo, Ira, Avery, Keith and Nathan. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Paul Allen.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, September 17 at 11 a.m. with a visitation preceding the service at 10 a.m. Both will be held at Kost Church (37405 Kost Trail, North Branch) and interment will be at the Kost Cemetery.
